Currently: Daycare, Deadlines & The O.C
A little life update, a lot going on.
If I’m being honest, April felt like a lot. The good kind of a lot, but a lot nonetheless.
This biggest shift the past month was personal. My littlest started daycare. 🥹
Anyone who’s been through this knows the feeling.
Bittersweet doesn’t quite cover it. He’s growing up, finding his feet in the world without me right next to him, and meanwhile his big brother is doing his last year at daycare before school. So it’s hitting from both sides really.
But here’s the thing about starting daycare, suddenly you have time. Like, actual stretches of quiet, uninterrupted time. And if you’re a one-woman studio who has been squeezing client work into nap times and late nights for a while, that feels equal parts wonderful and deeply strange.
The first thing I did with that time? Finally, finally, finished my website.
If you’re new here, Malin Creates had actually been without a proper website for close to four years. Yes, really. A designer with no website. I know, I know. There were reasons, and I’ll get into the full story in an upcoming post because honestly it deserves its own space. But for now, she’s live, she’s here, and I’m really proud of her.
The other thing keeping me busy lately has been a project I’ve really enjoyed, a website refresh for a Melbourne based law firm. Not a full rebuild, more of a considered update. He’s actually been a client of mine for a few years now through a seperate business, so there’s already a great shorthand between us which makes the work better. We’re now moving onto their property law sub-site which is a whole other fun puzzle to solve.
More on that one soon too.
Oh, and if you’ve ever wondered what the Malin Creates studio sounds like at 5:45am on the way to Pilates, the answer is an O.C throwback playlist on repeat. Every. Single. Morning. No notes.
That was April in a nutshell. A lot of life, a lot of work, a lot of coffee, and somehow, a website.
Speak soon,
Malin
